GOD IS LOVE – RECEIVE HIS LOVE
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life..John 3:16
When you check up the top ten songs on Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, one finds out that almost eight songs talk about love . A look at the soaps on TV and the more love soaked they are , the more the curious eyes .People’s faces glitter when you mention that word “love”. Yet it seems to be the most abused word in the world.
Despite all the love songs, love words, love soaps and Valentine Days , we seem to live in a love less world.
Leaders who say they love us , let us down by breaking their promises. Friends we trust and cherish with our lives, betray us by saying lies about us behind our backs . Ladies feel like dying when they have been heartbroken .So much for being in a love sick world.
Yet 2000 years ago the Creator of this love sick world , showed his love in the most amazing way :sending his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of the world.
That same God is Love and his commandments are summed up in Love .His actions are based on Love to those who receive his love .That is why he gave and we should receive.
He gave his Son as a sacrifice for our sins, our crimes . What a gesture ! How can you, an innocent guy, die for that thief that is just about to be burnt by the mob justice crew , ready to put the tire on him and set it him on fire ? Yet that is what Jesus did .Die for criminals that they might live.
It is from this great act that we learn the heart of love. We see that Love is about Giving a good thing to receive a Good thing in return.
Love is an exchange of valuables for valuables.
God so loved the world because he created a good world and wanted it back after sin made the good world bad. So he sent a good gift, to gain back a world he created as good.
When you spend time with someone you love, it is love in action because you are giving a valuable item called time in return for a valuable person called your friend. You only spend money on a good thing you like , so you give a good thing called money to get the thing that you see is good for you.
A skilful footballer plays great soccer because he was given a valuable gift on which he adds more value to it by giving his time in practice .Love involves giving and receiving.
Thus if Love is this two way exchange have you received God and his love by believing in his Son whom he gave ?
God showed his love for you by giving his Son Jesus .For the love chain to be complete you should receive his gift by trusting in him.
Then you are to love your neighbor who could be your friend or enemy by giving good things and letting him or her receive. Giving time , advice, money, telling them the good news of Jesus and sharing .When they are offered all these they are either to receive them or not. When they receive , the love chain is complete.
Receive God ‘s Love by believing and trusting in Jesus Christ.
